Faced with the proliferation of objects in orbit, the space sector must address two key challenges: extending the lifespan of satellites and ensuring controlled deorbiting. This requires an essential capability: the ability to intervene directly on satellites in orbit.

This is the objective of the Aspera project, led by our R&D teams in south-western France. Its ambition is to embed intelligence on board satellites using an autonomous system combining vision guidance, FPGA-based AI and autonomous decision-making.

Aspera is the result of two years of research, multidisciplinary collaboration and a vision focused on the uses and professions of tomorrow's space industry.

Sketch2Code, an initiative by SII Research that aims to transform interface sketches into code or web prototypes using artificial intelligence. SII Research shows how this approach can speed up the prototyping phase and facilitate the work of designers and developers.

The objective? To optimise the charging times of several vehicles using the same terminal and enable vehicles to be charged without human intervention.
‘Our teams are involved in research and innovation activities, either independently or through partnerships, to anticipate needs and respond to the challenges of transformation in the transport sector,’ says Florent Fabas, Director of the Innovation Division.

How can we make electric vehicle battery charging systems smarter, more connected and more interoperable?

The goal? To contribute to the development of interoperability between charging systems and data with other mobility services, while improving the state of charge of electric vehicle batteries.
‘The NEUS laboratory employs ten people and offers solutions to the challenges of energy and utility management using new technologies such as the Internet of Things and embedded artificial intelligence.’ says Senda Romdhani, Head of the NEUS laboratory.

How can we make cities more accessible and inclusive?
Discover the ‘AI for Citizens’ project, a smart assistant solution connected to data from the city of Rennes, within the NCS laboratory at SII Research.
The goal? To facilitate travel and access to urban spaces for people with disabilities and vulnerable individuals.
‘Our goal is to provide a solution that will be available in public spaces and will include different types of technologies based on artificial intelligence, computer vision and natural language processing.’ says Thinhinane Yebda, Head of the NCS laboratory.
