Electronics Engineer

CDI / SII United Kingdom

MISSION

As an Electronics Engineer, you’ll design and develop complex electronic circuits and hardware architectures for advanced defence and security applications, working from initial concept through system integration and qualification. You’ll work within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment and contribute across the full electronics lifecycle, including design, simulation, integration, verification and testing.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across areas including mixed-signal electronics, power supplies, analogue and high-speed digital design, embedded systems and sensor integration, while contributing to robust, compliant engineering solution

PROFIL

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design and develop complex electronic circuit assemblies and hardware architectures from concept through to system integration and qualification
• Perform electronic design calculations, simulation, power estimation and component selection/derating
• Develop mixed-signal electronics with consideration for EMC, DFM/DFX and PCB design constraints
• Define PCB layout constraints, floor planning, impedance requirements and board stack-up requirements
• Work closely with Systems, Mechanical, Software and Safety engineers to develop optimum technical solutions
• Ensure designs meet technical requirements and applicable regulatory, safety and environmental standards
• Produce electronics specifications, hardware architectures, requirements, interface definitions and development/verification plans
• Support system integration, design reviews and peer reviews
• Perform hands-on board bring-up, debugging and circuit board/system-level testing
• Support EMC/ESD testing, investigation and mitigation
• Use laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies and logic analysers during development and verification
• Contribute to design improvements, engineering knowledge capture and mentoring/reviewing the work of peers
• Monitor engineering activities against cost, schedule and performance

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
We’re after someone curious, creative, and confident in their technical skills — ideally with:
• Strong experience in electronics design across the full lifecycle
• Experience with schematic capture tools, ideally Cadence or Mentor Graphics
• Knowledge of mixed-signal design, PCB design and EMC considerations
• Hands-on experience with board bring-up, debugging and electronics testing
• Experience with requirements capture, system integration and technical documentation
• Experience developing electronics within a regulated engineering environment
• Good understanding of engineering processes, design reviews and verification
