40 YEARS OF HISTORY...

Bernard Huvé, fondateur de SII
The dawn of history

Bernard Huvé, an engineer by training, decided to found SII (Société pour l’Informatique Industrielle). Specialising in industrial IT, Bernard quickly took on his first employees to carry out fixed-price contracts for major organisations such as Philips, the French Atomic Energy Commission and Bull.

Early implementations in France

This decade was marked by the establishment of our first SII office in Nice (1984), following a major contract with IBM; this was followed by the expansion of our model into the Paris region with Cergy Pontoise (1987) for our client Sagem, and finally the Vélizy site (1989) for Matra, Renault and Sextant.
The company’s workforce thus exceeded 100 people.

Infrastructure and sustainable development in the region

The 1990s were characterised by a proactive approach to quality, focused on formalising our procedures, methods and best practices. In 1992, we achieved ISO 9001 certification for all our activities.
At the same time, we continued our expansion strategy across France by setting up several branches (Rennes, Aix-en-Provence, Nantes, Toulouse, Strasbourg and then Lille).
Finally, in 1999, we were listed on the stock exchange to raise our profile. Bernard Huvé, founder and managing director, is the majority shareholder alongside his family.

International expansion and changes in governance

The Group continued to expand its network in France and embarked on a course of international expansion with the opening of a subsidiary in Poland (2006), followed by subsidiaries in the Czech Republic, Belgium and Morocco, as well as the acquisition of the Coris Group in Switzerland and Concatel in Spain.

To support the Group’s growth – which by then numbered over 1,500 employees – a new management team was formed in 2007. Bernard Huvé took up the post of Chairman of the Supervisory Board and appointed Eric Matteucci as Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Acquisitions and ongoing international expansion

The strategy of expansion outside France has been confirmed and is gathering pace thanks to acquisitions in Germany, Belgium and Colombia, as well as the establishment of new offices in the Netherlands, India, Canada and England.

The Group is also pursuing external growth in France to support its development, notably through the acquisition of Feel Europe in 2016, aimed at strengthening our position in the banking sector.

In 2019, we celebrated our 40th anniversary and announced the strengthening of the Group’s senior management team and the creation of a Development Department to accelerate the company’s growth.

An ambitious future

Building on the solid foundations we have laid over more than 40 years (thanks to our international presence in 18 countries and an annual turnover of over 676 million euros) and driven by a context of profound transformation in the business world, the Group is pursuing an ambitious development strategy for the coming years. To achieve this objective, we are basing our strategy on four pillars:

- Continuing to support our clients both technologically and geographically.
- Investing in methodology and innovation to develop skills.
- Expanding the measures and initiatives that lead to the professional fulfilment of our employees.
- Ensuring SII’s long-term role in society through a responsible social policy.

A strong commitment to a sustainable digital world

A new objective has been set: ‘Working together to build a digital and sustainable world’. This demonstrates that SII intends to continue growing to satisfy its clients, drawing on its DNA and long-standing values to ensure the personal fulfilment of its employees.
As key players in the digital transformation, we at SII are proud to contribute to building a digital and sustainable world, integrating social and environmental issues into all our projects.

This is also the year in which our Foundation was established: in line with our approach to Corporate Social Responsibility, we launched the SII Foundation, which embodies the Group’s desire to commit to the public interest by supporting associations and mutual aid organisations. It promotes philanthropic engagement by supporting solidarity projects, with a particular focus on digital technology as a driver of inclusion and solidarity.

Having reached the symbolic milestone of €1 billion in turnover and 5,000 employees in France, the Group is confirming its growth momentum and strengthening its technological expertise in the strategic sectors of data, artificial intelligence and cyber security.
