Last week, as part of International Women's Day, SII Group Spain had the honor of welcoming Lydia Sempere to our Madrid offices for a special awareness event, in collaboration with our social partner Fundación Adecco.
Lydia is the first deaf driver to compete in the Spanish Touring Car Championship, and she shared her inspiring story of resilience in the world of motorsport. From an early age, she faced numerous challenges, from bullying during her school years to the lack of resources needed to enter a traditionally male-dominated field. Yet her passion and determination have enabled her to break barriers and prove that disability does not define people—effort and perseverance do.
The event, attended both in person and online, provided a space for reflection and learning, where participants gained first-hand insight into the challenges Lydia has overcome and how she has made history in Spanish motorsport. Together with Fundación Adecco, we also explored the role of diversity in the workplace and how we can continue moving towards a more inclusive society.
To conclude the event, we enjoyed a networking session accompanied by light refreshments, where attendees had the opportunity to share their thoughts and reflections on the importance of promoting inclusion across all areas of society.
