The role of JAVA software engineer is centred around naval industry.

Within the Naval Engineering unit, the Applications department is responsible for, among other things, the development of different Systems for naval vessels and their integration with sensor and systems. These complex systems contain advanced solutions in the fields of information processing, information management, user interaction and sensor and systems control.

Key accountabilities:

As a Java Software Engineer you work in a multidisciplinary and self-managing Agile/Scrum team. In addition to the development of software products, our teams are integrally responsible for a multitude of aspects such as requirements analysis, design, architecture, testing, validation, and regular product demonstrations.

We attach great importance to the application of high-tech techniques and methods. Software development is based on Java and is supported by a modern development environment.

You will work with the following tools and techniques:

  • Agile/Scrum software development
  • C++, CMake, real time software development / Java, Linux, IntelliJ
  • Continuous Integration & Delivery
  • Jenkins, Nexus, Maven, GIT, BitBucket
  • Unit Testing (Google-Test), Test Automation, Cucumber
  • MatLab, SimuLink (is a plus)

Skills & experience:

  • Dutch nationality.
  • Graduated at HBO or WO study in the direction of Computer Science or Computer Technology.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant professional experience in Java.
  • Knowledge and experience with the following tools and techniques is important:
    • Agile software development with Scrum
    • Java, Swing, Linux, IntelliJ
    • Jenkins, Nexus and Maven / Gradle, GIT / SVN
    • Continuous Integration & Delivery
    • Unit Testing, Test Automation
  • You are a talented and experienced Software Engineer and enjoy working on the design, development and testing of complex Java software solutions.
  • A good background in Java development with modern development methods and tooling.
  • As a person you are creative, open and flexible and you can operate as a team player
  • is able to quickly master new domains and techniques
  • A good command of the Dutch and English language in word and writing is necessary for a good job performance
