Following the world wide disruption due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the aviation industry is facing one of its biggest challenges ever. One of the results of the current worldwide situation is an increased demand for cargo transportation, operators have discovered the passenger cabin for additional transportation space.
One of the solutions is the Cargo Seat Bag which is being developed to fulfill this need, in addition longer term designs are in work.
Cargo Seat Bag
Trip & Co and SII Netherlands have joined forces to develop a Cargo Seat Bag (CSB) for air freight transportation in the passenger cabin.
The product is deliverable in single, double and triple seat configuration. Per seat the rated cargo weight will be 75kg with a volume of approximately 0,3m3 and the CSB is loaded from the top.
The first prototypes have been produced and a fit check has been completed making this product ready for STC application and samples are ready to be sent out to interested parties.
Future Cabin Transport Developments
SII Netherlands is also looking further in providing operators with a more permanent cabin cargo solutions. These solutions improves cargo loading, easily adaptable for a wide range of aircraft types, high load carrying capacity and incorporate all regulations concerning cargo and passenger combi use.
